Mr. Bauer, an ASME Certified Senior GD&T Professional and Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt (CSSMBB) who holds a Master of Science in Industrial Operations and is fluent in Spanish, serves as president and principal consultant with ITR.  He also holds Lean Certification through the University of Michigan College of Engineering.  With experience supporting over 450+ different product design and manufacturing launch programs in the past 25+ years in North America, Europe, and Asia, he specializes in providing training and engineering services in the areas of Dimensional Management, Six Sigma, Design for Lean Six Sigma, design, engineering, quality, performance and process improvement, and productivity.  He has personally serviced over 250 different customers in the automotive, aerospace/aviation, robotics, consumer products/durable goods, telecommunications, defense, health care, medical devices, agricultural and construction, power transmission and distribution, oil and gas and energy industries.

Mr. Bauer has authored or contributed to multiple papers and standards for the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), publications on Six Sigma and SPC, Design for Six Sigma, GD&T, Tolerance Stack Analysis, Error Proofing/Poka Yoke, Design and Process FMEAs, Lean Plant Layout, Standardized Work, Blueprint Reading, Program Management, Advance Product Quality Planning, Control Plan Development, and Team Building.  He has additionally designed, developed, and implemented interactive television broadcasts, webinars, and web-based training on multiple subjects.  He holds a B.A. from Eastern Michigan University and an M.S. in Industrial Operations with distinction from Lawrence Technological University.  Dan can be reached at or on his cell phone at (915) 867-4500.

In the early ‘90s Mr. Bauer spent three years designing and implementing training and quality programs for six Ford Motor Company launches.  Programs included electrical, fuel handling, and powertrain components, including the 60°V6 Vortec Launch at Cleveland Engine Plant II, and also included components launched at the Ford Alba Plant in Szekesfehervar, Hungary.  In 1995 Mr. Bauer served as a visiting professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University where he conducted a certification program in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Tolerance Analysis, and Reading Engineering Drawings.  The train-the-trainer program certified university professors and GM engineers who support the GM China training curriculum in both Shanghai and Beijing.

From 1996 through 2004 he worked to develop a comprehensive error proofing/poka-yoke system for Chrysler and the DaimlerChrysler Corporation that focuses on proactive identification and elimination of issues early in the vehicle program.  This system has been implemented on more than a dozen vehicle programs.  Since 1998 he has supported Delphi Corporation with ongoing Six Sigma, GD&T, Dimensional Management, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training, consulting, and implementation.  Since 2007 he has supported Schlumberger with GD&T, Tolerance Stack, DFM/DFA, and Lean Six Sigma training.  He also provides ASME Y14.5, AS13004, AS13003, AS13002, AS13000, AS9145, and AS9103, and J1739 training to GE and other aerospace OEMs and their suppliers in support of new and legacy programs.
