GD&T is an international symbolic language used on mechanical engineering drawings to supplement and optimize traditional coordinate dimensioning and tolerancing.  Dan Bauer from ITR holds Senior GD&T Certification from ASME and will be teaching you how to do the following:

  • Apply datums, dimensions, and tolerances to new designs and drawings.
  • Select functional datums based on part-to-part interfaces, manufacturing practices, and inspection requirements.
  • Analyze a part within the context of the design to ensure logical dimensional management.
  • Select critical characteristics and specifications based on design requirements.
  • Determine required fits and tolerances between mating parts and features.
  • Select appropriate coordinate and geometric dimensions and tolerances to define size, location, orientation and form requirements.
  • Perform and develop tolerance stacks to select datums and calculate and confirm tolerances.
  • Optimize dimensions and tolerances to improve design fit and function.
  • Correct dimensioning and tolerancing errors on existing designs.
  • Increase part tolerances while ensuring assembly and design requirements are met.
  • Correctly select between and apply position, concentricity, circular runout, or total runout.
  • Select and apply the most common geometric tolerances of form, profile, orientation, location, and runout.

This program is appropriate for all management, design, manufacturing, quality, inspection, purchasing personnel to understand the benefits and proper application and interpretation of GD&T.

*Participants are encouraged to submit drawings (with or without GD&T) to the instructor before and during the seminar for review during the presentation.
